Cdr Dick Ryan

Spokesman for Defence

Tukituki Electorate candidate

Born in Dunedin and educated in England, Commander Dick Ryan spent twenty years in the Royal Navy, flying with the Fleet Air Arm on active service. He also qualified in submarines, had two years in Antarctica and was leader of the International Helicopter Search and Rescue team.

Following two years study in Social Science and Alternative Technology, he returned to Auckland with his wife and family, instructing in Management, Leadership, and Systems Approach for RNZN.

Dick was appointed as a Director of the Commission for the Future in Wellington.

On resigning from the Commission, Dick stood for parliament for the DSC, following his great grandfather (William Dawson JP) into politics and moved north running a biodynamic smallholding and an export cottage industry.

Now retired and living in Havelock North, Dick is the Democrats for Social Credit Party's Spokesman for Defence, and the Tukituki Electorate candidate.
