Democrats for social credit will promote:

• An publicly-owned, integrated transport system to all regions.

• A standard fuel tax to replace road user charges.

• The establishment, upgrade and repair of roads and bridges, through the Community Credit Programme using low interest Reserve Bank loans.

• The sending of containers by rail where possible.

• The co-operation with Tranzrail for mutual benefit, including reducing costs of inter-island ferrying of goods.

• Air New Zealand as an important means of transporting perishable goods to overseas markets. Air New Zealand will remain in public ownership.

• The use of coastal vessels linking to supercargo ships in a deep water port.

• Research and development of alternative fuels and renewable energy sources.

• Research and development of rapid transit systems adapted for New Zealand.

• A safe, pollutant-free, sustainable transport strategy.
