The Democrats for social credit, formerly the Social Credit Political League, first entered the political arena in 1953. The Party has vigourously promoted reforms to enrich the lives of New Zealanders. The monetary policies will reward individual enterprise, strengthen communities and safeguard our unique and precious environment.

We led the way to changing the electoral system, after the results of the 1981 General Election, at which Social Credit won 21% of the votes but got only 2 seats. Such outcomes, which also affected other parties, led to MMP.

| SOCIAL CREDIT and its Origins |
Development of modern banking has resulted in nations losing the power to issue most of their own money. The present economic system, world wide, is based on debt. This confers immense power on the few who create money and control it, and causes economic problems for producers, other productive businesses and nations as a whole. Its effects are extreme in some situations, resulting in abject poverty while plentiful goods are denied to those needing them. more>>
